Bluetooth Handsfree Kits Keeps You On The Right Side Of The Law.

Singapore, 18 April 2008 - Using one hand to hold the handphone to communicate while on the road distracts drivers and reduces their ability to control their vehicles and react to changes in road situations.  Advice taken from the Singapore Traffic Police’s website says, “Because of the seriousness of the offence, Traffic Police urges all handphone users to make use of handsfree sets to answer their calls while driving. [Note: The use of handsfree is permitted provided the driver does not hold on to the handphone or the handsfree kit itself.]“

Using an earpiece does not solve the problem, as the driver would still need to handle the handphone to make and receive calls.

Wireless car kits that allow you to upload your mobile phone book would be the way to go.

Local distribution company, Orange Communications, has brought into Singapore, two such handsfree devices from Seecode, the German specialist in bluetooth handsfree car kits.

The Seecode Wheel is mounted onto the steering wheel.  The keys for answering and ending calls and other functions are well within reach without the driver’s hands ever having to leave the steering wheel.
The Seecode Vossor Phonebook is a rearview mirror that is easily mounted over the existing one in the car.  Keys for answering and ending calls, and other function keys are positioned strategically at the front of the mirror for easy reach.

Both devices use bluetooth to connect wirelessly to the user’s handphone. The user can also upload his phonebook from his handphone into the device’s memory.  Using the keys next to the LCD screen, the driver can easily scroll through the phonebook to locate the name that he wants.  The devices also support voice dialing.

Both Wheel and Vossor Phonebook support caller-ID, so the name or number of the caller is flashed on the LCD screen.  In the case of the Vossor Phonebook, the screen is located in the middle of the rearview mirror, making it naturally visible to the driver.

Voices on both ends of the conversation come in with perfect clarity and loudness.  With a standby time of up to 10 days, and a talktime of 11 hours, the rechargeable li-polymer battery ensures long periods of conversation.  Batteries on both devices are easily recharged by plugging into the lighter jack of the car.

Installation of both the Wheel and the Vossor Phonebook is so simple, they are sold as “D.I.Y” products.  This certainly saves the trouble of having to get equipment installed by a professional.

The Seecode Wheel, retailing at $319 and Seecode Vossor Phonebook , retailing at $269, are available at several merchandising stores, including Tangs Orchard, Technobay.
