Completely portable and rechargeable, the Video 55 gives you the power to decide where, when and how you watch or listen to your iPod®. The Video 55 is a beautifully designed combination of several very good components – a 7-inch video display, two speakers, and a rechargeable video battery capable of delivering up to 5 hours of continuous audio and video playback – all housed inside an attractive fold-closed enclosure.

Videos played from your docked iPod® become highly watchable over hours of playtime, thanks to the Video 55’s crystal clear 7-inch screen with 480x234 resolution. The screen can be viewed from practically all angles – left, right, top or bottom without being perfectly centered. Video 55 is the only one that provides complete 180 degree positioning of its integrated screen. You can even make its display flat with the bottom surface if you prefer.

As for sound, the Video 55 is hard to beat. It is equipped with a low-noise, low-distortion amplifier with two good front-ported speakers. It uses two aluminum cone neodymium drivers for clarity, a Class D digital amp and advanced Maxxbass technology that provides enhanced bass response while minimizing distortion. It all works together to deliver a full-bodied sound to the whole iPod®  video experience.

Another major plus of the Video 55 has to be its infrared remote control. Not only does the remote control the unit’s functions, it goes further to control the docked iPod® as well. Ten buttons – power, mute, play/pause, track backwards and forwards, menu, up and down menu arrows, and the volume controls – can all be handled from afar. The Video 55’s remote was designed to integrate properly with the rest of the system, and there is even a spring-loaded compartment on the bottom half of the unit to tuck away the remote for storage.

The Video 55 is powered by either a rechargeable lithium-ion battery (with up to 5 hours playing time) or mains power. Power management tools keep the unit from running down the battery when not in use. And if you do run down the included rechargeable battery down to uselessness, the Video 55 has a compartment on its bottom for eventual battery replacement. You can even power the Video 55 in your car with the included car charger.

The Video 55 pays attention to connectivity. Housed on the left side of the unit, are ports for a headphone, video-input, a composite video output, and a USB port to turn the Video 55 into a computer’s iPod®  dock for data synchronization.

The Video 55 closes like a laptop,  protecting its screen and the iPod  inside. It’s matte, rubberized black plastic shell wears well and looks great.

Even when viewed at an angle, the colour and detail of the video is not lost.

The infrared remote control which  handles both the functions of the Video 55 and the docked iPod. It can be stored away neatly in a spring-loaded compartment at the side of the unit.
